Here is a super easy way to grow a Avo tree in the comfort of your own home.
We all need to keep busy in isolation and what better way than to reuse your food scraps to create more food for the future. With supermarkets being a little tight on supplies, here is a fun way to grow in isolation.
How to grow your own Avocado tree?
Begin by washing your avocado stone removing all remaining avocado skin off the stone and dry with a clean tea towel.
Next find the point of the avocado, this is the bit that naturally points not the flatter side that usually has lighter colouring. Once you have found the point, this will be the bit that goes down into the water ( see pictures below ) measure out 2cms from the flat side and insert 3 tooth picks evenly around the stone to create a way to balance your stone in your jar.
Next fill up a jam jar to the top with cold water and place the point on the avocado down into the water so that part of the stone is submerged in water
Place your jam jar on a window ledge or a sunny spot in your home and keep topped up with water. In 8 weeks you should see some sprouting and then it will be time to transfer into a plant post with compost. If you don't see any sprouting in 8 weeks, start again with another avocado stone.
There you have it, a super easy way to grow your own avocado tree. Keep your smashed avo dreams alive in isolation, a little something to look forward to on the other side of staying at home.
Share your progression as your little trees grow.
Hope everyone is safe and well.
